This project was inspired by Benjamin Williams Leader – an English Landscape painter.
Here is the vegetation I created inside of 3DS Max to help populate the environment. 3DS Max was used to model and render out texture maps, which I would then composite in Photoshop and generate textures quickly.
- Create a single high poly leave or grass blade, then place them around to create interesting silhouettes
- Render out High Poly Models to a plane
- Generate color, spec, Normals (if necessary) then composite in Photoshop.
This shader was iterated many times over the project. Although the shader is quite complicated it is also very easy for other artist to change the aesthetics.
